Hover Prompt Support
Help for Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
Hover Prompt is a voice-synced teleprompter for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. It follows your words as you speak. It never uses a timed scroll.
Hover Prompt is made available by Digisync Technology Solutions. This page is effective 14 October 2026. Questions go to [email protected].
Getting started on Mac
Hover Prompt for Mac requires macOS 13 or later. It is a menu-bar app and does not add a Dock icon.
On a Mac with a notch, Hover Prompt sits at the notch (Island). On a Mac without a notch, it uses a Classic floating card.
Hover the notch for one control row:
- Play/Pause
- Restart
- Jump
- Script switcher
- Type size
- Hide
- Settings
The menu contains Show/Hide Prompter, Start/Restart, Scripts, Settings…, Help, and Quit.
Settings has six tabs: General, Scripts, Speech, Appearance, Shortcuts, and About.
Default shortcuts:
- Hide or show the prompter: Control-Option-Command-H (⌃⌥⌘H)
- Restart: Control-Option-Command-R (⌃⌥⌘R)
Turn on macOS Dictation so the on-device speech model is available, and allow Microphone and Speech Recognition when macOS asks. You can withdraw either permission later in System Settings.
Hide from screen share is best-effort only. Check a capture before you rely on the prompter staying off a shared screen.
Getting started on iPhone and iPad
Hover Prompt for iPhone and iPad requires iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later.
Home includes:
- From Clipboard
- New Script
- A recent-scripts deck, with a pencil icon to edit
- Tap a card to select that script
Tap Start Hover Prompt, then play. Swipe up to leave the app. The mini floating Hover Prompt view (Picture in Picture) stays over your camera app, keeps word sync, and shows a green mic meter. Tap the mini view to return to Hover Prompt.
Settings hold the appearance options and Stats.
For best results, enable Allow Audio Playback in the camera app if that option is offered.
There is no in-app recorder. Record in your camera app while the mini view stays on screen.
Frequently asked questions
Dictation or speech recognition is unavailable
Turn on macOS Dictation, and confirm an on-device speech model for your language is installed. Hover Prompt recognizes speech on the device only and does not fall back to a server. If Dictation is off, or the on-device model is missing, speech sync cannot start.
Microphone or Speech Recognition permission was denied
Allow Microphone and Speech Recognition for Hover Prompt. On Mac, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, then Privacy & Security. You can withdraw either permission in the same place. Without them, the prompter cannot follow your voice.
There is no notch, or the prompter is in Classic mode
Macs without a notch use a Classic floating card instead of the Island at the notch. The same controls are on that card and in the menu bar menu.
A shortcut does nothing, or it clashes with another app
The defaults are ⌃⌥⌘H to hide or show, and ⌃⌥⌘R to restart. Raycast, Alfred, and similar tools can claim those keys. Change the shortcut under Settings, then Shortcuts, or change the other app’s shortcut. Keep a single copy of Hover Prompt running. A second copy can take the same shortcuts.
The prompter is not on screen
On Mac, Hover Prompt has no Dock icon. Open the menu bar menu and choose Show Prompter, or press ⌃⌥⌘H. Look at the notch (Island), or for the Classic floating card.
On iPhone or iPad, start Hover Prompt, press play, then swipe up. The mini floating view (Picture in Picture) should sit over your camera app. Tap it to return.
Which languages work?
Hover Prompt uses your device language, with an on-device speech model for that language. It does not send audio to a server to recognize speech. If sync does not start, install the on-device model for that language and confirm Dictation or Speech Recognition is allowed.
Will a screen share hide the prompter?
Hide from screen share is best-effort only. A display capture or the app you are sharing can still show the prompter. Record a short test before a call or a broadcast.
The iPhone or iPad mini view stops advancing
The mini view follows your words while the microphone is available. Confirm Microphone permission for Hover Prompt, and enable Allow Audio Playback in the camera app if that option is offered. The green mic meter on the mini view shows that audio is arriving. If the meter is quiet or missing, speech sync has stopped.
How do I quit?
On Mac, open the Hover Prompt menu and choose Quit.
On iPhone or iPad, stop the session and close the mini floating view. You can also swipe Hover Prompt away in the app switcher. There is no in-app recorder to stop.
