Unsnapl Privacy Policy
Effective 15 October 2026.
Unsnapl is a phone app for parents. You capture a school notice from WhatsApp, email, a photo, or another app, Unsnapl uses AI to read it into a suggested event, and you check it on a review card before it is saved to one schedule that you share with the other parent in your household. Bravopro 514 CC, trading as Digisync (“Digisync”, “we”), makes Unsnapl available. This policy is effective 15 October 2026.
Unsnapl is currently in an invite-only test (TestFlight and Google Play internal testing). Some privacy features planned for a wider release, such as in-app data export and in-app account deletion, are not built yet. This policy describes what the app does today.
Questions and deletion requests go to [email protected].
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and display name, received from our sign-in provider when you sign in.
- What you capture. The text you paste or share, or the screenshot or photo you import or share, of a school notice. Notices often include school, class, and event details, and sometimes names of children or staff.
- Your schedule. Events and tasks (title, date, time, location, notes), the extraction result shown on the review card, and your edits.
- Your household. The household you create or join, its members, invites, and the time zone used to read dates.
- Children you add. For each child: a name, colour, and optionally grade, school, and free-text tags (for example “Afrikaans” or “U9 rugby”), and which events they are linked to.
- Device details. A push notification token for each device you sign in on, and limited technical information such as device language.
We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs, we do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles.
How captures are read (AI extraction)
When you capture a notice, the app sends it to our server, which passes it to Anthropic’s Claude model to turn it into a suggested event. What is sent to Anthropic:
- the pasted or shared text, or the image (downscaled first), and
- context needed to read dates and match children: your household time zone, the date the message was received, and each child’s grade and tags under an internal reference. Children’s names are not sent with this context, although a name that appears in the notice itself is sent as part of the notice.
Anthropic processes this to return the result and handles it under its own commercial terms and policies. We have not yet entered a zero-data-retention agreement with Anthropic; that is planned before any wider release.
Nothing is saved to your schedule until you confirm it on the review card. If extraction fails, you enter the event by hand.
What we store, and where
- Captured images are not stored on our server. An image is held in memory only for as long as it takes to read it.
- Captured text is stored with its capture record, together with the extraction result, so the app can show the review card and sync it between devices.
- Your schedule, household, and children’s details are stored in our database so that both parents’ devices stay in sync. Each household’s data is kept separate from every other household’s.
- The app also keeps a local copy on your phone so it works offline.
Our server and database run on DigitalOcean in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (EU).
We keep our application logs free of capture content and children’s details. When extraction fails, we log a reason code only.
Service providers
- Anthropic (Claude): reads captures, as described above.
- Clerk: sign-in with Google or an emailed code. Clerk processes your email address and sign-in details.
- Expo: delivers push notifications that keep your devices in sync and builds the app. Expo receives your device’s push token and the notification.
- DigitalOcean: hosts our server and database in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (EU).
- Apple and Google: distribute the app and deliver notifications on their platforms.
Each provider handles data under its own terms and privacy policy. We share information with them only to run Unsnapl.
Notifications and reminders
Event reminders are scheduled on your phone. Push notifications tell your other devices, and your co-parent’s devices, that the shared schedule has changed. You can turn off notifications in your phone’s Settings.
Who can see your information
Members of your household can see and edit the household schedule, events, tasks, and children. Anyone you send an invite link to can join your household. Household members can remove other members.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account and household are active. When you delete an event, task, or child in the app, it is removed from the schedule and marked deleted in our database, so the deletion syncs to every device. It is not immediately erased from our database.
In-app data export and in-app account deletion are not available yet. Until they are, email [email protected] from your account’s email address to ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion of your account and household data. We will act on the request and reply within 30 days.
International transfers
Digisync is based in South Africa, and Unsnapl is available to parents in many countries. Your information is processed in the Netherlands, where our server is hosted, and by our service providers in other countries, including the United States (for example Anthropic, Clerk, and Expo). Where the law requires safeguards for these transfers, such as contractual clauses, we rely on our providers’ standard contractual protections.
Legal bases (EU, UK, and similar laws)
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or a similar law applies, we process your information:
- to provide the service you asked for (contract): your account, captures, AI extraction, the shared schedule, household invites, and sync;
- with your consent, where applicable: for example push notifications, which you can turn off at any time in your phone’s Settings; and
- for our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure and preventing abuse, for example rate limits and security logs that contain no capture content.
Your rights, wherever you live
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your account and household data; and
- stop processing based on consent or legitimate interests.
Email [email protected] from your account’s email address. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm that a request comes from you. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Depending on where you live, specific laws give you these rights and others:
- EU and UK (GDPR and UK GDPR): rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.
- United States (state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA): in the last 12 months we have collected identifiers (email address, display name, push token), user content (captured text and images, schedule and household details, and children’s details you add), and limited device information, for the purposes described in this policy. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and we will not discriminate against you for using these rights.
- South Africa (POPIA): rights to access, correct, and delete your personal information, to object to processing, and to complain to the Information Regulator.
Children
Unsnapl is for parents and guardians only. It is not directed at children, children do not use the app, and children cannot have accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Parents may add minimal details about their own children (a name, colour, and optionally grade, school, and tags) and capture notices that mention them. By doing so, you confirm that you are the child’s parent or guardian, or are otherwise allowed to share them. We use children’s information only to run your household’s schedule. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or analytics. Parents in the household can review, edit, or delete a child’s details in the app at any time, and can ask us to erase them from our database by emailing [email protected].
TestFlight and testing
If you use a TestFlight build, Apple shares crash reports, feedback, screenshots, device and operating system details, and the tester’s name and email address with the developer. That sharing is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Google Play internal testing is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy. We use what Apple and Google provide only to fix bugs.
Email you send us
If you email [email protected], we use the message only to reply. We delete it on request.
Changes
If these practices change, we update this page and its effective date first, before that change is released.
